Young Tayla Hampton and Mariah Butler say they originally got a math project from their teacher encouraging them to sell something.

The girls said as a class they considered the weather and decided it was a great time of year to sell hot beverages.

Hampton says "So Miss Currin, our teacher said that we were going to start a project and that we were going to sell something. Since it was winter we decided to do hot beverages." Butler says "It was for our math class and we were fundraising for the Pound Rescue. We even had announcements every morning throughout the week so that we could try to raise more money."

The girls say it was awesome to create the cheque that they would give to pound rescue, while they weren't able to go visit the animals they were helping the say they got to hear all about them and that was pretty cool too.

"We did get to hear a lot of stories about the animals and that was definitely really fun. Also, on the side we decided to collect (as a class) some blankets, and toys and canned food to give to Pound Rescue as well."

Not only did the girls have fun making all of their calculations, they got to learn how to run a cash register and said they learned important strategies, they even thought about putting on their 1st resume when they're a bit older.

Hampton and Butler say they're extremely proud of what they accomplished.

Hampton says "I'm very proud of myself and my classmates because we get to help so many other animals that are in need and don't even have homes." While Butler says "That was definitely a really big step up for us because it was really exciting to be able to do something for them, and have fun doing it too."

Hampton and Butler are already thinking forward about doing another sale for a cause in the spring.
