The Okotoks Annual Volunteer Leadership awards are back once again and there's still time to acknowledge those that make difference in the community.

Since 1996 the Town has been noticing the efforts of those that take precious time out of their days to help others.

Volunteer Administrator Sian Anderson says there's a number of categories a volunteer could be a part of.

"We are looking for nominations for both youth and adult volunteers," she says. "There's also room for volunteer groups to be nominated and there's categories for elementary, junior high and senior high along with the Heart of Okotoks Award."

The nominees will be chosen based on the awards selection committee in late March and Anderson says it doesn't matter what you volunteer for, you're more than qualified.

"Anyone who is volunteering is eligible or to least be nominated but we're really looking for residents and people working with volunteers to look at those people that are giving back so much to our community."

Those that win will be presented with their awards on April 12, Anderson says it's always special how many people get nominated for the awards.

"We're super excited to be offering them for the 22nd year in partnership with the Rotary Club and the Western Wheel so we look forward to seeing what amazing things Okotokians are doing this year."

The nomination deadline is Monday, March 13 2017 and a copy of the nomination form is on the link.
