Local businesses will have the opportunity starting in the new year to improve upon themselves with a new intriguing program starting up.

Bow Valley College, Okotoks Economic Development, McBride Career Group, The Okotoks & District Chamber of Commerce along with Community Futures Highwood will be bringing 10 different business savvy classes right to Okotoks.

Business Analyst Ursula Sherwood says the 'Business Boot Camps' will will appeal to all needs in the business world.

"Every month we will have a different topic for business owners to come and experience a workshop with," she says. "We will bring in speakers who will facilitate and the topics range from anywhere from business finance, strategic planning to human resources, sales & marketing and social media strategies."

Sherwood says that through thr process of setting up the classes that there's opportunities to go through further post-secondary education with Bow Valley College.

"We did get the topics from Bow Valley College's Business Administration diploma program. So what we're hoping is if people are really interested and want to learn more then they can access that program and it's offered here in the region."

The first Business Boot Camp will be 'Business Finance' on January 9 and Sherwood says there's limited room in them.

"You can go to the Okotoks Chamber website, they have registrations open the cost is $25 and that includes supper for the business boot camp event. Registration for the boot camps at this time are limited to just 20 participants and it's first come first serve so if you want to attend make sure you register soon."
