The Foothills School Division has some negotiations coming up this fall as they deal with some labour issues in regards to the Division's support workers.

Superintendent of the Foothills School Division, John Bailey says at least when you're working in a small division it's easier to get along.

"In the long run it's better to try to get along with people, and try to work together keeping the focus where it should be, that's on what's best for the kids and providing opportunity for those students. If we can keep our focus there, that really helps."

Unlike labour disputes in Calgary or Edmonton, Bailey says FSD is hoping to keep negotiations this fall short and civil.

"You know, there's a pretty long standing tradition of working together and working for a common goal.  In any negotiation there's give and take from both sides, I expect that history to hold true. Overall it's been a positive relationship and we work hard to maintain that and I expect that to continue."

Bailey says they're not the only division dealing with negotiations though.

"There's still some local negotiations that everyone has to do in the Province, but those tend to be smaller issues and local things." Bailey says confidently "Some of our other employees have contracts that are up, and the fall will be busy with labour negotiations."
