Twenty people have let their names stand for the five available Trustees positions on the Foothills School Board.

One person who isn't running is the board chair Christine Pretty.

She says after two terms she wanted to spend more time with her family.

"I've served two terms and it's going to be bittersweet for sure, I think it's one of the best things I've ever done, being able to serve my community and the kids," Pretty says. "But I also don't think it's a job you want to do forever and I think it's really important to get new parents in the system with young kids that want to contribute."

She says she'll miss being able to impact the students in the division, and some of her fondest memories are being in the schools and seeing some of the board's initiatives that were driven by the board coming to fruition and seeing the students enjoying those things

She's confident in the position of the school division moving forward.

"I feel very confident for the future of FSD, I feel it's very bright and we have some amazing educators and the board has been so supportive of professional development in the division for teachers," she says.

Pretty also took time during Wednesday's meeting to say how happy she was to see so many people step forward to get involved.
