The Town of Okotoks will once again be offering free skating at Pason Centennial Arena this skating season.

Along with a free swim at the rec Centre on Saturdays from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. mid-week skating just adds to the number of free recreation offered by the Town.

Facility Bookings Specialist Serena Rowland says from now until the end of March there will be free ice at the home of the Okotoks Oilers.

"We have free skating at Pason Centennial Arena every Wednesday evening during the regular hockey season from 7:15 to 8:15 and it is sponsored by EPCOR," she says.

Rowland says there's plenty of room on the NHL sized ice surfaced that many may forget is available to them.

"It's a great opportunity for people to come out and use the facility. The Pason is a wonderful facility and if only lots of people use the main Rec Centre there's an opportunity to go over and free skate at the Pason and it's just a great skating environment."

Rowland adds that none of the times both in the pool and ice would be possible without the support of their corporate partners at EPCOR.

"They've done this for several years with us and they approached the Town and wanted to give back to the community so they sponsor a free swim and public skate."
