A little rain wasn't enough to wash up the fourth annual Okotoks Wish Maker Walk on Saturday.

The walk kicked off at Seaman Stadium and helped to raise funds to grant the wishes of children with life threatening diseases through the Children's Wish Foundation.

Tracey MacNeil, Wish Maker Walk committee member, says they've been a great contribution to the foundation.

"Up to date, we've raised nearly $200,000," she says. "The goal for our walk is to not only bring awareness to different diseases but to also acknowledge the different work that the Children's Wish Foundation does."

Each wish costs approximately $10,000 to grant and the Wish Maker Walk has granted about 20 wishes.

MacNeil says the community support is always great.

"We had our local band Haggis playing, we had lots of community members, we partnered with Seaman Stadium and the Dawgs this year for a better location and it was great to have a plan B because it's cold."

Last week grade 5 students at Percy Pegler School held a Wish Market where the students sold hand made items, baked goods, and used books and toys. The market raised $1,685 dollars for the foundation.
