High River Parent Link Centre

The challenge has gone out to all breastfeeding moms in the High River area.

RN Sharon Dalrymple says it's all part of the Quintessence World Record Challenge.

"It started in B.C. trying to promote breastfeeding more, but we want to see how many breastfeeding mothers and their infants can be latched on at the same time, at 11 o'clock on October 3, over at the Parent Link Centre," she says.

Dalrymple says the High River Hospital has a great record with over 94 per cent of mom's leaving the hospital after giving birth breastfeeding their infants.

"The rates are good for women leaving hospital who are breastfeeding and then we know over time that decreases for various reasons but we want to promote the fact that it's good to do until babies are, for sure, beyond six months of age," Dalrymple says.

The challenge is for the most moms breastfeeding simultaneously in a set geographic area – whether it's a province, territory, state or country as a percentage of the birth rate.
