Over the weekend, you may have noticed lemonade and ice tea stands set up with signs reading “Help Fort McMurray".

Most of the stands were ran by kids and this was their way to support those up North who have been displaced.

Nolan Asplund, is one stand that you could see constantly throughout the weekend, first in front of his house in Drake Landing and than at River Side Park.

“I am making an ice tea stand because there is a fire in Fort McMurray that is spreading and I am wanting to help,” Asplund says.

Asplund started the stand with his brother and two friends on Friday, and continued throughout the weekend. He stayed out all three days selling ice tea and raising money to donate for the Fort Mac evacuees.

“The money is going to go to the Red Cross and they will take it to the donation place.”

Asplund started the weekend off with the goal of raising $500, and made a poster showing how close he has come to his goal.

He  adds that when he reaches the $500 goal that he might extend it to $1000.
