The Dewinton community center was turned into an art gallery Friday night for the Art in Heart "Fun"draising Gala.

Six local artist had their work on display and for sale to raise funds for the Foothills Country Hospice.

Volunteer Coordinator for the hospice, Betty George, says that they are grateful for the benefit that comes from this event.

"The artists have kindly donated 30 percent of the art sales tonight to the Hospice," George says.

George says the money raised will go towards helping run the facility, so patients and families are able to continue to stay there.

"It is free for the patients and families to stay at the hospice, however, to do that we need to raise money."

61 percent of the facilities costs are covered by Alberta Health Services, and the other 39 percent, or around one million dollars a year, needs to be raised.

"Things such as our gala, golf tournament and third party fundraisers like this help us reach that goal," George says.
