A relatively quiet August long weekend was good news for the Okotoks Fire Department with a fire ban still in place.

Over the course of the past week they responded to 21 different calls, two of which were fire pit complaints.

Ken Thevenot, Okotoks fire chief, says they plan to take another look at the fire ban in the near future.

"The dryness is still out there... this weekend calls for some more warm weather so we're going to leave that fire ban on and reevaluate after this weekend."

Thevenot adds residents have been respecting the bans the Town's put in place.

"We've always had a good response from our citizens regarding the fire bans and even when we went out to deal with them it was ok as well so hats off to everybody out there trying to help out, not only with the fire ban but with the watering ban. Everyone's doing their part so it really helped out."

The watering ban was recently downgraded to a partial watering ban where even numbered addresses can water on Tuesdays and odd can water on Thursdays.
