Okotoks residents with home safety questions can get them answered by experts first hand.

The Okotoks Fire Department is reminding the community they offer free home safety inspections.

Pat MacIsaac, Deputy Fire Chief, says they do a total walk through with home owners.

"We'll look at some of the protective measures you have in place, make sure they're appropriate like smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors," he explains. "We'll give you some hints on how to keep your home fire safe, we'll look at things like your furnace and electrical panels with you and make sure they're as safe as can be."

MacIsaac says the inspections are beneficial for residents of all ages.

"Kids will participate and firefighters will talk to them about what they can do to help. We can also specifically gear this towards seniors who may be more apt to have different types of injuries like falls and trip hazards. The firefighters will go over what's relevant to your household or the dynamics in your house."

The inspections take roughly half an hour to an hour to complete.

To book an inspection contact the Okotoks Fire Department at (403) 938-4066.
