The Okotoks Fire Department has been keeping busy the last few weeks enough though they haven't had to respond to as many calls as they did at this time last year.

Okotoks Fire Chief Ken Thevenot

In this week's edition of the fire report, Fire Services did respond to 18 different calls.

Fire Chief Ken Thevenot says it was an average week for the department.

"We had some alarm system activations, medical responses, we assisted with some medical responses, one vehicle accident, two grass fires and we did a mutal aid call," he says.

With rain being the theme of the summer it seems, Thevenot says they having had the amount of fire calls they usually expect in a drier summer but they've been able to get ahead of the game when it comes business inspections.

"We're coming to the tail end of our inspections so that's been really good for us on that side of things, on the one side it has been a wet two or three months and for us that's a good thing."

Thevenot once again is reminding residents to safe as everybody heads back to school this week to obey school zones and take extra time heading out for the Labour Day long weekend.
