A new way to give to charity in the Foothills has popped up in Okotoks.

It's called "100 Women Who Care for Okotoks and Area" and is the brainchild of Karen Love.

The basic premise is getting one hundred women together, all with $100 to give to a local charity.

"If you want to join, you turn up on the night, you fill in a nomination form with a registered charity who's willing to give you a tax receipt. The hundred or plus nominations go in a box, I pick out three. The three women who nominated those charities will come up and do a five minute presentation and try and sell it to the other women. Then we vote and you hand over your hundred dollars and we're done."

Love says they plan to do it four times a year, which means, if they can get one hundred ladies out each time a total of $40,000 for charities here in the Foothills.

She says the first time out, she may not be able to attract one hundred women, but they'll move forward with whatever they can.

She's also quick to point out they can easily accommodate more than a hundred women as well.

The group will hold their first meeting Thursday, October 8 at 7 o'clock at the Crystal Ridge Golf Club.
