A dozen groups and organizations in the Foothills are sharing $60,000 in grant funding through Family and Community Support Services.

Shelly Koot with FCSS says the groups fill out the paperwork and then make their case to the board.

"Each time the board is highly impressed with what these organizations are able to do, particularly with a small amount of money," Koot says. "And so a decision was made this year that each of the organizations, 12 would receive funding, they received a portion of what they asked for, the one that didn't receive it's funding, it was only because it was an 'all or none' they couldn't run their program with a portion of their funding, they needed it all.".

Koot says she'll work with them to see if they can get funding elsewhere.

In total they received applications for about $120,000.

The FCSS mandate is preventative social services, putting supports in place to mitigate a negative situation.
