Roadways will be busy locally over the weekend as the Enbridge Ride 2 Conquer Cancer takes places with numerous stops and routes through the Foothills.

The two day event will begin in Calgary with numerous cyclists travelling 228 kilometres and motorists should find alternate routes if heading out west.

The ride will begin at 7 a.m. from Canada Olympic Park and will first head to Bragg Creek along Highway 22.

Riders will continue the first leg of their journey along the 22 until hitting Highway 549 near Turner Valley and Black Diamond.

Following a pit stop at Oilfields High School the Ride's first leg will conclude with everyone camping out at Pason Centennial Arena which will lead to a busy Highway 7.

The average time for riders to finish a leg of the Ride 2 Conquer Cancer is over six hours, so drivers should expect delays and police presence along the way.

As for Sunday's return to Calgary on the ride, the route reverses leaving Okotoks at 7 a.m. again going through Black Diamond, Turner Valley and Bragg Creek before heading back to Calgary.
