It was a busy weekend for the Okotoks RCMP & Municipal Enforcement.

During the weekend of February 3, 2017, The Okotoks GIS & CRU seized a number of items ranging from drugs and weapons to survey equipment in their ongoing investigations.

Around a half an ounce of methamphetamine was found during a traffic stop. While in another separate traffic stop, weapons from bear spray to batons were also seized.

No names have been released in connection to the seizure of both the drugs and weapons as the RCMP's investigations are still ongoing.

During a pair of checkstops on February 4, 2017 both the RCMP & Okotoks Municipal Enforcement conducted a checkstop and released the following numbers after checking 150 different vehicles.

One impaired driving charge was laid, a 72 hour suspension and the RCMP conducted roadside impaired checks on three different people.

Also in the checkstops there were eight violations handed out under the Traffic Safety Act.

Both RCMP & Municipal Enforcement are reminding residents to not drink and drive or use narcotics while behind the wheel.

If you notice an impaired driver, call 9-1-1.
