Now that the Disaster Recovery Program Advocacy Committee has finished their report, their goal is to get the Alberta government to fix the program.

High River Mayor Craig Snodgrass says the committee's work will continue to help communities in the future.

"The work they have done is absolutely unbelievable, and it doesn't end with High River. It's absolutely every community that was involved in the 2013 floods in Alberta and every community in Alberta that will deal with the next disaster, wherever it is," he says.

He says the DRP committee wants to make sure no one else goes through the same trials as High River.

"They never looked at this to just get High River dealt with. They looked at it as that is obviously goal number one is to get everybody paid and moving on with their life. But the bigger goal now is to assure that no Albertan ever has to go through this ever again."

Snodgrass says the report was very well-written and should encourage those in Edmonton to fix these issues.

"The report is very impressive how well it's done, and it's not a bunch of political jargon. It's just a very, very well-put-together report that anybody in Edmonton will be able to understand what went wrong and what needs to be fixed."

He says the use of case worker models was a critical piece.
