Don't be alarmed if you see a few military vehicles cruising through town this weekend, it's only a drill!

Okotoks and the Lakeview Inn and Suites will be hosting about 25 members of the 41 Canadian Brigade Group.

Capt. Brad Young is the Public Affairs Officer with the 41 C.B.G, he says the vehicles will be in town on Friday.

"Starting on Friday evening there will be three vehicles in the Lakeview Inn and Suites parking lot, two of them will be large command post trucks, and one smaller command post vehicle."

The actual exercise Domestic Ram II will start on Saturday.

Domestic Ram II is a command post training exercise for the 41 C.B.G Territorial Battalion Group Headquarters to confirm their readiness to support domestic operations if required.

Capt. Young says this exercise is a walk through of how the brigade would respond and work with local governments in the case of a natural disaster, much like the Fort McMurray Fires, or the 2013 Floods.

"Domestic Operations would be the Canadian Forces support to a request for assistance in a community like the Calgary Floods in 2013." Capt. Young says "This is a command post exercise, so basically they'll be going through the orders process."

The 41 Canadian Brigade Group will not be carrying weapons during the training exercise.

Capt. Young says that it's not a private event, the public are allowed to come and observe.

"If community members in the area want to come and observe, they can - we have no issues in that respect."

The participants will not be causing any disturbances to the community during their exercise.
