The 17th Annual Foothills Invitational Track Meet took place at Pason Centennial Arena this past Thursday, celebrating skills of students in diverse learning programs.

FSD Director of Inclusive Learning, Loriann Salmon, applauds the staff and parents at Foothills Composite for the work they've done to organize the event.

" They've done a lot of work in terms of getting more students, parents, the community and other peers involved to ensure the kids have a really good experience," she said.

The concept behind the annual meet is to celebrate the unique skills of students in diverse learning programs, and included field events, face painting, music and a zumba class led by Zumba Tom, joined by Ferris the Falcon.

Loree Cowling, parent and Co-Founder of the "See Uniqueness" movement, says it's a day people can see each participant as unique and amazing.

" We're going to create a list of questions to help talk about uniqueness, because we've discovered a lot of youth don't know what to say when asked what's unique about them," said Cowling.

The meet was designed to include wheelchair and non-wheelchair athletes, with focus on individuality and participation.
