The Dewdney Players Theatre Group are hitting the stage with their spring production.

The Lion in Winter made its debut Friday at the RPAC and runs Thursday to Saturday for the next two weeks.

Brad Snowden, Director of the production, says the show can be described as a dramatic comedy.

"It's loosely based on history (King Henry the Second of England), so we know what happened to all these characters we just don't know about their relationships, so James Goldman took these characters and put them in the time in history where it actually happened and we see the relationship of this dysfunctional family during Christmas."

Snowden says their hard work on character development paid off.

"I think we spent a lot of time on the characters in the show and it really shows so I think it tells a great story through the characters and their relationships. It's neat because it has a lot of comedic lines in it but there's a lot of drama too."
