Alberta Health Services is urging all of us to get out and get our flu shots.

The height of flu season is coming late this year and Alberta's Senior Medical Officer of Health Dr. Gerry Predy says the number of cases their seeing are rising fast.

"In the last week we've seen the number of hospitalized patients increase from 30 to 84. So that's more than doubling in the course of week. We've also seen unfortunately five deaths. It's not unexpected. Again influenza when it does hit, does cause severe illness and unfortunately in some cases death. We're still in the early stages of this outbreak and it's still not too late for people to get their vaccines."

You can get your free shot at your Doctors office or local pharmacies.

The next flu shot clinic in High River is Wednesday, January 20 from 9 A.M. to 11 A.M. at the High River Health Unit on MacLeod Trail.
