Those looking to help support girls in poverty struck areas are encouraged to get together this coming Monday.

On Jan. 9 the local Days for Girls chapter will be getting together to help assemble reusable menstruation kits.

While it may be an uncomfortable topic for some, it prevents many young women in third world countries from going to school or work and leaves them in dangerous situations.

Volunteers are all asked to bring a sewing kit and polyester thread as well as one type of sewing tool like a sewing machine, serger, or cutting implements.

The work session takes place in Turner Valley from 4-10 p.m.

Anyone looking to join and wanting directions can call Susan Kristoferson at (403) 688-0140.

In about two years local chapters have donated over 2,500 reusable kits.
