Cycling was taken to a whole new level this weekend, with the Third Annual Natural High Cyclocross Event.

At Wylie park here in Okotoks, riders got on their bikes and raced for first place.

Assistant Race Director, Andrew Gustafson, says the course consists of a number of unique challenges.

"There are sandpits, run-ups on hills, barricades they have to jump over, there is a pump track, and every now and then you'll see a pretty cool crash", he says.

The event had a great turnout, with close to 250 competitors. This makes it the largest Cyclocross event in Alberta at this time.

Competitors of all ages and skill levels can join in on the fun, as there are races for experts to kids alike.

The day was complete with food trucks, music, and a bouncy castle, for onlookers and competitors to enjoy.

Gustafson says they do plan on holding the event once again next year.
