A local boy suffering from Achromatopsia saw the support of the Okotoks community on Sunday at a fundraiser organized in his honour.

Jade Johnson, mother to Ezra Johnson, says they were pleasantly surprised at the level of community support.

"People from all over town came to support Ezra. Lots of moms came and talked to me more about his condition, so it was really exciting, I got to meet some great people," she said.

The Johnson's raised about $942, which they have donated to the Canadian National Institute for the Blind's Night Steps Fundraiser, which will take place September 29th.

Captain Ezra and his team of about 30 people will participate in the walk to continue to raise funds and awareness for his rare condition.
