It's been an amazing 24 hours for High River's Heaven Can Wait animal shelter and its owner Kim Hessel.

Hessel asked for help on Facebook late Wednesday saying she would have to close the doors on the shelter by December if she couldn't raise money to pay mounting vet bills as well as the thousands of dollars a month it takes to feed, house and care for the animals she takes in.

A supporter started a Go Fund Me page a little over a day ago with an initial goal of $30,000.

They blew past that within a day and the response has been so great, the goal was upped to $60,000.

Others are pitching in as well.

Local photographer Monique Esposito has started an online auction, which already has several donated items.

Local Photographer Monique Esposito is putting together on online, silent auction to help raise funds to keep "Heaven Can Wait" from closing its doors.

The auction fires up Fri. Oct. 21, and closes on Sun. Oct. 23, with all the money raised going to Heaven Can Wait.
