Parent Teacher Interviews are getting underway this evening in the Christ The Redeemer School District, giving parents an opportunity to really see how their child is doing in school.

The opportunity only comes twice a year to have a sitdown with a child's instructor, so it's important to take advantage of the meeting scheduled.

Holy Trinity Academy Principal Carmen Ostafichuk says asking about a student's grades is a good way to start the meeting.

"I think the number one thing parents need to ask is does the grade that they know their children have reflect their child's ability. If so they should just be really really proud because their kids are working hard and doing everything they need to be successful. If not then they should encourage their children to make improvements so it does."

She shares it's imperative to make sure what your child says at home, matches what happens at school.

"Are they working hard? Are they making use of their class time? Do they participate? And how can I support them at home? Are they tired or distracted by their phones? Because parental support in that end for healthy habits can help them reach their potential."

Ostafichuk adds if there are any issues that arise from the interview, a plan should be made right away.

"If they're worried about how their kid is doing, I think then after the interview they should ask to check in , in a couple days. Make a plan right there, if they're missing assignments say you know what we're going to have this assignment done by tomorrow and I'm going to check with the teacher that my child has submitted it. Make a day to day, or week to week plan about how we're going to make sure they're successful."

Interviews in the CTR School District continue into Friday, students will have the day off.
