Oh Christmas Tree,  Oh Christmas Tree - How lovely are your branches!

And lovely they certainly were!

Sheep River Health Trust held their annual Avenue of Trees Live Auction yesterday at the Okotoks Rec Centre.

Spokesperson Tanya Thorn says the live auction raised around $9100 just for the trees, and is expecting another $10 thousand from the silent auction as well.

"Today's been a great day, our live auction brought in just over $9100 for 11 trees." Thorn says "That's fantastic for us!"

The Sheep River Health Trust helps to support local initiatives and programs that improve the Health & Wellness of the Foothills residents.

Thorn says she's very pleased with this years turn out and thankful for the community support.

"We're very pleased with where things have been this year we've had great community support out of this event this year." Thorn adds "We've had lots of donors come forward this year that are looking to donate some of the (decorated) back into the community."

The Sheep River Health Trust partners with local not for profits to find and choose families over the holidays to give these Christmas trees too, in efforts to brighten up their lives.

"So basically we'll take those trees and we'll deliver them back to families in need." Thorn says "Families have been identified through some of our partners like the Okotoks Food Bank and Magic of Christmas specifically.  They identify families that could use a bit of a pick me up over the holidays."
