As Christ The Redeemer School Division heads back to the classroom this week, there will be a few new teachers that students and parents to meet.

The division will have 35 new teachers representing the entire division this 2015-16 school year.

One of those local teachers is Britni Korte who will be teaching music at Good Shepard School.

The Saskatoon native says she's ready to start her first full-time teaching job.

"It's very exciting," she says. "The staff at Christ The Redeemer is so incredibly supportive, I couldn't have asked for a better place to work, I feel so prepared,  kind of nervous but I think it will be lots of fun."

She says after her time at the University of Saskatchewan, and going through the grueling process of finding that first job, she's happy to put her degree to work.

"It was a total blessing," she says. "I was very surprised, I was not expecting that in the least so it kind of threw me off but it was such a great feeling to know all that work I've put in was not for nothing, it was finally going to pay off."

Being from outside the province of Alberta and moving to start a new career can be quite the experience but for Britni says coming to the division was a perfect fit.

"The reason I came out here was we had a career fair, and there was a booth set-up they kind of snagged me as I walked by, gave me an interview and really encouraged me to pursue applying and everything just fell from there.

Out of the 35 recently trained new Christ The Redeemer Division teachers, 12 of them will be within the Foothills.
