After taking a break for the summer, the Okotoks Chamber of Commerce luncheon was back this week.

The luncheon was an opportunity for businesses to interact and keep others informed about business in Okotoks.

CEO Cheryl Actemichuk says normally the chamber has new businesses get up and do a "shameless plug" for their business, but this year that changed due to interest.

"We had 13 of them come up and do plugs about their business and what they're doing," she says. "It was a really good way for everyone else in the room that may be a new chamber member or new to town or another business to recognize the businesses in our town."

Actemichuk says many people may not be aware that when businesses join the Okotoks Chamber of Commerce, they're also represented on a larger scale.

"When you join your local chamber you're also apart of the Alberta Chamber and the Canadian Chamber, so we can represent Okotoks businesses in Ottawa if there's policies that we've discussed previously that maybe we want the federal government to look at changing or instilling."

Next upis the Chamber's Round Table event, which will be on Sept. 30.
