Through the 2017 Municipal Election season The Eagle 100.9 and Okotoks Online will be bringing you profiles of candidates to help you make an informed decision.

Tell us a little bit about yourself:

"I am a chemical engineer by training, I did environmental engineering for years and during that period of time I did environmental clean up, community consultations, and environmental audits. I became very active in my kids activities and through that I became a very good child advocate. I've decided that I love doing that, I love doing the community consultation piece from my background and working with child advocacy. I've lived in Okotoks for about six years, I am familiar with the area from previous experience because I did go to high school out by Strathcona Tweedsmuir."

What is the main part of your platform?

"I believe that we need better communication between members of council and our community. The communication needs to be timely, open and transparent, so that people can communicate back and forth. Issues that have been had at meetings are not very well communicated to the public after the fact, I am a true believer that at the end of every meeting we need a one page summary sheet that can go out on social media and other platforms that tells us briefly what was done in the meeting. I am also a firm believer in growth in the community, this community is growing, but I want it to grow in a fiscally responsible way. I want us to be very cautious of how we're spending our taxpayer's dollars, and what we're putting it towards as our community is growing."

Why do you believe you'd make a good councillor?:

"I love speaking to people, I love hearing people's stories, and their issues and trying to find solutions we can all be a part of. I think that people in our community are very positive, and happy within our community, but we need to be able to all work together towards common goals, and the best way to do that is to be able to communicate well with all parts of our community."

The Municipal Election goes Monday, Oct. 16.
