Foothills residents got a chance to get active to celebrate Canada's 150th Birthday this past weekend.

On Monday, Sept. 4, the National non-profit ParticipACTION was at the Bar U Ranch National Historic Site promoting their 150 Play List.

Edwin Leung, ParticipACTION spokesperson, says the 150 Play List was created by Canadians looking to get their fellow citizens up and active.

"To celebrate Canada's 150th birthday ParticipACTION got Canadians to vote for their favourite physical activity that they felt would define themselves as Canadians," he says. "The Play List consists of the 150 that were most voted for, and we've been challenging Canadians to try as many of these as they can throughout the year, if not all of them."

Attendees at the Bar U Ranch got to try their hand at field hockey, and roping, Leung shares ParticipACTION tries to tie their activities into the culture of the area depending on where they are.

"We're actually traveling all around Canada and the Bar U Ranch was one of the locations selected, we're trying to expose people to all kinds of activities across the country."

Leung adds response to the 150 Play List has been great from coast to coast.

"Overall including here at the Bar U Ranch I would say that everyone is having lots of fun, you can see it through the smiles on their faces, it's always great to have people active."
