May long weekend marks the start of camping season for many, and the beginning of the busy season for many campgrounds.

Riverbend Campground is no different, owner operator of the campground Dwayne Couture says that the season seems to be starting off with a bang.

He says that once they opened the phone lines in March it hasn't been quiet since.

"Our phone has been ringing steadily, and it has not been stopping as it seems more people are staying in the area instead of going elsewhere."

Some of the main questions people ask when booking is about the price, lot sizes and availability.

Most also want to know if they are allowed fires or not because of the recent fire bans.

Couture adds that camping has changed and evolved with everything else as the years have gone on and evolved.

"We used to travel in a 24 foot motor home or trailer has now turned into a 40 foot toy hauler and our camp grounds weren't built for that in the eighties," Couture says.

Couture says when camping there are a few things to remember, one is if you are camping as a family with children to bring along games and activities for them to do.

His second thing to remember is be mindful of the weather.

"Being in Alberta you always have to be ready for the weather, I mean I can't count how many May longs we have had that were snowy, wet or cold."\
