With spring in sight municipalities are starting to take a look at what's needed when it comes to their projects for the Building Canada Program.

John Barlow, MP for the Foothills, says last year the priority for the program was waste water projects.

"That worked well for Southern Alberta as a majority of municipalities priority was water projects and we got a lot of those completed," Barlow said.

The focus has changed this year with the new Federal Government being a Liberal ruling.

"The real focus with the new government is in terms of innovation and green technology."

However, even with the new government's focus Barlow says waste water projects are not off the government's radar and funding for those projects could possibly be coming from a different program.

"I want to speak with municipalities and let them know that this is something that could be coming down the road, as they start to set their priorities for their infrastructure projects this summer."
