Big Brothers Big Sisters Okotoks Bowl for Kids Sake was back this year and a huge success.

The event at Millennium Lanes exceeded their fundraising goal and brought in over $10,000 with 18 teams participating.

David Case, Communications and Marketing Specialist for BBBS, says this year was a huge improvement from last year where there wasn't enough interest for the event to take place.

"It's the biggest event we've had in Okotoks yet and I think a lot of the thanks goes to the awesome individuals we have on our Champions for Kids committee which is a group of local volunteers that have really dug in and supported the event there. It would not have been possible without their help."

Many local businesses also stepped up as sponsors and donated prizes.

Case says the money raised will be invested back into the community.

"We've got a waiting list in Okotoks of kids who have applied to our programs so we're always looking for mentors and those dollars will go to train and monitor those matches," he explains. "We take great care in training all of our volunteers and the parents, families, everybody who's involved in the training process, so the money raised at Bowl For Kids Sake will go into creating and nurturing new matches."
