The Okotoks Blues and Harvest Festival took place on Saturday.

The event featured everything people would expect from the Harvest Festival the town has held in the past with the addition of jazz music.

Culture and Heritage Manager Allan Boss says he is pleased with the outcome of the event.

"Over the past year Culture and Heritage were planning a Blues Festival to coincide with the weekend and we then decided with Programming and Events to combine them and make something bigger," Boss says.

He adds that he believes the two things were meant to be together because a harvest is about a crop that is ready to be harvested.

The crop is started by seeds that are planted and puts its roots down, and that is exactly what blues music is.

"Blues music is roots music, it is the pre-curser to rock and roll music, and it is original to North America."

With the way, the festival came together he is already looking forward to the future and what it holds for this event.

"We are going to continue running this festival and hopefully in 25 years I can be here talking to you about the 25th anniversary," Boss says.

Musicians like Tim Williams performed at the event.
