It's Miracle Treat Day in the Foothills.

Local Dairy Queen locations have been busy all day serving up their classic flavours, to the new Royal style of blizzards.

Val Majeu of the Okotoks DQ says they'll be going hard at serving as many blizzards as they can until closing time at 9 p.m.

"Proceeds from all blizzard sales go to the Children's Miracle Network and for us we're supporting the Calgary Children's Hospital," she says.

Over the years of participating, the Okotoks location has raised thousands of dollars towards the Children's Hospital and Majeu hopes to keep that trend going this year.

"We made over 1,500 blizzards last year, so we donated $8,476 to the Children's Miracle Network and we're hoping to beat that total."

You can get any size of blizzard from a mini to an extra large, soft-serve treat and Majeau says if blizzards aren't your style you can still help donate to the Children's Hospital.

"We don't actually set a fundraising goal, we just want to beat last year. We have the money bins here that you can donate to and that's available year-round."

Over $5 million was raised nationwide during the 2015 edition of Miracle Treat Day.
