Blackie's school community should be back up and running again February 5, 2021 as planned.

Assistant Superintendent with the Foothills School Division Drew Chipman says everyone's done what's needed to get things back under control after the school had its fifth COVID case last weekend shutting the school down.

"Parents have acted positively, staff have acted great, the switch to at home learning, those things are always concerning for parents, they have to shift and provide that service at home for their kids so they've been very supportive, it's been great to see," he says. "Teachers are working mainly from home but they can get into the school if they need to, unless they've been specifically asked to self isolate, so we do have some teachers that are working out of the school."

Chipman says there have been a few hiccups across the school division since classes resumes, but he gives a lot of credit to everyone who's made it as easy as possible to continue.

"You know our parents and staff have been very supportive, there's been a number of individuals that have had to self isolate, we've had very little push back, everybody's doing their best to make this work, everybody's minding the protocols and doing what they can to minimize the interactions, so we're very appreciative of everything the community has done to keep it safe here in Foothills," Chipman says.
