Kids and adults alike will be able to enjoy a new skatepark sooner rather than later.

The Parks and Recreation Committee has been hard at work led by Colin Fleming of the committee to raise funds for the project.

Fleming says the old park simply won't cut it anymore.

"No ones using it, it's not very practical and it's not very user friendly for children, so we've come up with a game plan with New Lines Skateparks to put in some curves, some ramps and whatever else without really going over the landscape that is currently on."

Fleming says they have had tons of support from the community so far and are expecting more.

"Yeah, we have everything from change jars at local stores to people just dropping off 20 bucks. There's a bottle drive happening this Saturday in Black Diamond and Turner Valley.

The Project has already raised just under 20,000 dollars and is expecting more from their bottle drive as well as their silent auction in Okotoks on December 5th.

"We have a silent auction in Okotoks December 5th, which I really encourage people to buy tickets. We've got everything from E-bikes, skateboards to blacksmith classes.

So many great savings that the community is put together for us and tickets to that Canadian Brewhouse can be bought through me or the town of Black Diamond."

Fleming says they have seen support from all kinds of community members.

"I've seen support from everybody, all ages! There have been retired people who don't even have children in the town that are so ecstatic that someone has taken the initiative to do something."
