No real excitement, but cautious optimism instead in Black Diamond over the plans to re-visit the idea of amalgamating with the Town of Turner Valley.

The last time it came up back in 2007, the issue went to a plebiscite with residents voting against it by a narrow margin.

Black Diamond Mayor Sharlene Brown says with the shared services agreement between the Towns coming to an end this year, it just makes sense to explore the option of amalgamating.

"It just seems to be the next step. Are we ready to take a look at what the feasibility is with one decision making body?"

Before talks can even begin in earnest the Towns need to get approval for a provincial grant to pay for the process of holding talks, and public consultations, as well as funding for studies on the issue before it can move ahead.

Brown says at the end of the day if it makes sense to have the Towns become one, then that's what they'll do.

If not, they'll renew their shared services agreement and continue on as they have since they first signed it back in 2012.
