The Big Brothers, Big Sisters fundraiser "Bowl For Kid's Sake" has wrapped up for another year.

BBBS spokesperson Jodi McKay says the event held on Sunday raised quite a bit of money.

"We're very excited, we raised $9,300 that day," she says. "A big thanks to the community and everybody for their support."

McKay says the fundraiser at Millennium Lanes in Okotoks drew out quite a crowd, and a huge outpouring of community support.

"Over 70 community members came out, they made up about 15 different bowling teams. They came out to do a great job of raising money and awareness for mentoring in Okotoks. Great community support and we appreciate it, and our clients and families we work with do as well."

Bowl For Kid's Sake is a fundraising event, however McKay says it's not just about raising money, but awareness too.

"We're always looking for Big Brothers, and Big Sisters. Right now we do have more little boys waiting than girls. But we had four different people at the event who also showed interest in becoming a Big Brother or Big Sister."

McKay would like to give a shout out to their top fundraising team the Bowling Buddies, lead by Kennedy Woof. As well as Cobs Bread, the runner up for the top team.

She says BBBS is still just a little shy of their goal of $10,000, so they are keeping their donation page open on their website.
