Habitat for Humanity Foothills is hoping residents will support their Okotoks build through an online auction.

The Habitat for Humanity Foothills 5th Annual Auction auction opened yesterday, with over 100 items to bid on until March 7.

Corene Loewen, Habitat for Humanity representative, says all funds raised will support Habitat's new build in the D'Arcy Ranch development.

"We just got possession of the lot so as soon as the ground is thawed we're going to be building a duplex up there, so that's exciting."

The auction is the organization's main fundraiser, which brings in $8,000 to $10,000 annually.

Loewen shares the project has also received backing from a diverse group of supporters.

"Anthem United provided a great lot discount for us, Morrison Homes gave us cash sponsorship, the Town of Okotoks chipped in by covering permit costs and landscaping, we were also the recipients for the Okotoks Western Wheel Cares, and also the 100 Women Who Care Foothills group chose us as one of their recipients so we've had a lot of local support."

She adds it's been quite the collaboration, but that's to be expected in the foothills region.

"It's just great to see, our last build was in High River, and in the Foothills we see everybody come together during the fundraising process, as well as the building stages, it's amazing."

Construction for the Habitat for Humanity Duplex is set to start in late Spring 2018.
