Athletes will be putting their skills to the test on land and through water in Okotoks on Saturday.

The Sixth Annual Natural High Triathlon in support of KidSport will kick off at Crystal Shores Beach House at 7:00 a.m. for athlete check-in with the first racers starting at 8:30.

Andrew Gustafson, organizer, says the triathlon is great for all skill levels.

"Our is very accessible specifically the tri-it distance so a sprint distance is a fairly standard race, the tri-it is half the distance," he says. "It's a really good entry race we encourage a lot of people to come whether they're an avid tri-athlete or have never done it before."

Gustafson says the event will follow a specific order throughout town.

"Swimming first, biking second, running third, standard triathlon. We swim in the Crystal Shores Lake up at the beach house then the bike goes out Milligan Drive and Northridge Drive over across 338 to St. James Church by Holy Trinity Academy High School and south on 32nd Street back to where the 7-Eleven is and back to the beach house then the run just goes around the lake."

Residents are encouraged to come take in the culture around the race and enjoy the charity barbeque that starts at 10:30.

A series of road closures will be taking place throughout Okotoks for about two hours on Saturday morning for the event from 8:30- 10:30 a.m.

The right hand lane along Northridge Drive and Milligan Drive and the eastbound lane on 338th Avenue will be closed to vehicles.

The southbound lane on 32nd Street from 338th Avenue to Milligan street will be used for cyclists.

As an alternative, motorists looking to travel north or south in that area can use 48th Street to 32nd Street.
