Dewdeny Players Tracy Wyman (Left), Sherene Schmidtler, Nicola Payton and Cami Ryan made their way to the last Art On The Lawn event Thursday Night. The Okotoks Art Gallery wrapped up what is sure to become an annual summer event with their last Art On The Lawn Thursday night.

For the past two months, local artists showed off their talents for the entire town to see.

The last Art On The Lawn also saw members of the Dewdney Players show their support for the local art scene and promote their upcoming production "Calendar Girls" which will run in October.

One of the performers Cami Ryan says events like Art On The Lawn are a perfect way to show off community talent.

"Doesn't matter what kind of art it is, that's the most important, that's what brings a community together. Sports bring a community together but the arts bring the community together."

Sherene Schmidtler also with the Dewdney Players says it's great to see the community come and support Art On The Lawn participants.

"That to me is art even as itself is pulling people together," she says. "But when you pull them together and find common space where you can share creativity in a really wonderful way, then you're accomplishing something and that is what the biggest part of being in a community is, pulling people together."

Another member of Calendar Girl production Nicola Payton says there's many talented artists in Okotoks.

"It's just the one painting or the one pottery item you buy, it's hours of work and love put into it," she says. "I'm just saying that Art, that says it all."
