On her trip down east last week, Alberta Premier Rachel Notley told those gathered she doesn't agree with the Federal NDP's plan for a "Cap and Trade" system, saying it may not be suitable for Alberta.

Highwood MLA Wayne Anderson says that's good to hear, but...

"It's good news to a certain extent, but I guarantee you, she might not be campaigning on that with Mr. Mulcair, but quite frankly with this climate change and carbon review they're doing, they're obviously looking at some sort of taxation on carbon, whatever the case may be," he says.

Anderson says "Cap and Trade" has been proven ineffective wherever it's been brought in.

"It's just another form of a tax grab. You've got to step back from this. All the cap and trade schemes have done is disproportionately hurt any sort of economic enterprise like Alberta. It's going to hurt Alberta in the long run. So, definitely it's nothing but a tax grab."

During her trip to Toronto, Montreal and New York, Notley said Alberta will find other ways to address climate change.
