Friday kicks off Alberta Culture Days in Okotoks. The three-day event features art, music, and theatrical performances.

It all starts Friday with Up in the Attic at the Okotoks Museum and Archives. People will be able to go and try their hand at interactive activities that relate to the Lost Okotoks exhibit and the Voices from the Engraver traveling exhibit at the Museum.

Allan Boss, Culture and Heritage Manager for the Town of Okotoks, says they'll also be presenting the Best of Buskers Fest Friday night at the Rotary Performing Arts Centre.

"We are showcasing the best performers from this summer's Buskers Fest... we have everything from a heavy metal band to a jump rope crew."

The show will wrap up of the kick-off of the event. With matinee and evening performances on Saturday, the RPAC stage will be home for the Dewdney Players Group Theatre’s presentation of a short, one-act play called Post-its®. This lighthearted and moving play explores the ups and downs of a marriage the couple has captured on scraps of paper.

The day also includes a walk along the Sheep River that starts at the Okotoks Museum and Archives at 2 p.m.

"Kathy Coutts will be taking people on a tour of the Sheep River to talk about the River's role in our community from floods to fords, to fishing," Boss says.

The event will wrap up Sunday with the final Picnic at the Piano of the season. The first one was held at the end of last year's Culture Days and there have been four this year during the summer season.

There will be two performers at the picnic including Danzel Carrasco.

"Danzel Carrasco is the one who designed and painted the piano plus she also plays, so she is going  be one of the performers who will close out this year's Picnic at the Piano season."
