Adults are invited to get into a good book this summer, and maybe win some prizes in the process.

The Fifth Annual Adult Summer Reading Challenge kicks off at the Okotoks Public Library on June 16.  Adult Fiction Coordinator Wanda Clark says that there will be 12 titles selected by staff for the challenge.

"The fun part is that some people discover new authors they never would have tried which is kind of the point of it," Clark says. "You want to keep people reading all summer. The summer activities are usually for children so we thought, 'Why not for adults'?"

Once participants have finished reading each book, they are invited to vote on it. Each vote gives them an entry into a draw for weekly prizes. Additional reviews can also be submitted to the library's Facebook page for a bonus prize entry.

"So they can read one title or they can read all of them and then they can vote," Clark explains. "Some people choose just to read the titles and don't want to participate in the voting, which is fine. Other people love voting. They just have to fill out a short form and tell us if they loved it or hated it and then they're entered in to win weekly prizes, so we do weekly prizes all summer."

Titles selected for the challenge will include a mix of fiction and non-fiction in a variety of genres. The Adult Summer Reading Challenge will run until August 11.
