A Cultural Taste of High River is coming back to the town as part of the Little Britches celebrations.

Myrna Scovoranski with Foothills Immigrant Services says it's meant to help newcomers to become part of the community by serving up some of their native recipes.

"Often food is international, you don't need to speak another language to enjoy the food and we are putting on a food fair where people can come in and try food from several different countries," she says. "There is no charge, we just want people to come in and sample what different places around the world have to offer."

She says so far there are five confirmed countries that will be represented including Holland, Syria, Iran and the Philippines.

Scovoranski says the event comes at the perfect time and really fits in well with what they do.

"I think it's exciting that the (Little Britches) committee is working really hard at branding this as Little Britches weekend and we're excited to be part of it because part of our job here at Immigrant Services is integration into the community, so not reinventing the wheel but joining what's already there and making it bigger and better," she says.

It takes place Saturday May 21 starting at noon and going until the food runs out.
