Yesterday all across the nation Canadians came together to honor the veterans and remember all the fallen men and women who fought for our country.

Here in Okotoks the community gathered at Pason Centennial Arena, a location that has a seating capacity of 2,400 and not a seat was empty for the Remembrance Day service.

Mayor Bill Robertson, Councillor Carrie Fischer and Highwood MLA Wayne Anderson were all in attendance and were part of the many that laid wreaths for the soldiers our nation has lost.

Okotok's own Malcolm Hughes chairman of the Okotoks Branch 291 Royal Canadian Legion led the memorial charge and Captain Tara Sawchuck CD stood up and spoke leaving the crowd with words of remembrance and recognition.

Local groups such as the Big Rock Singers, Foothills Philharmonic Chorus and Okotoks Men's Chorus all performed for the service.

After the service The George opened it's doors to the public so people could unite, share stories and continue remembering and honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

An outdoor ceremony was also held at the Cenotaph which included speeches, a moment of silence, wreath laying and a procession.
