Yesterday, Okotoks got to experience the best that Scottish Heritage has to offer.

The Foothills Highland Games made its return to Okotoks, for its 7th consecutive year.

All the favorites, from kilts to bagpipes, Highland dancing to the Ceiligh, it all returned for another great day of Highland culture.

This year, the games were also host to the Canadian Championship Heavy Games, where participants from all over the country came to compete.

As well, a bouncy castle, a Heavy Masters Competition, more vendors and crafts, were also new additions to the 2016 games.

Spencer Collins with the Foothills Highland Games, says they are looking to make the event a little more international next year.

"We hope we can get some international athletes to come out next year, to add to the international dancers and pipers we had this year. We just want to build on our current success", he says.

The games will return again next year, at the same time, on the last weekend in August.
